Hydrosol is the biproduct of essential oil distillation. When the plant material travels through the distiller, it renders its’ essences via essential oil & the remaining water contains the water soluble constituents of the aromatic plant, which is the hydrosol. They contain bits of the dissolved essential oils, depending on the water solubility of the plant during the distillation process. With it comes the same beneficial components of the particular plants’ essential oil, but in a more gentle dose. They contain water, so are typically very hydrating & helpful in retaining moisture on the skin.
